Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to the 2018 film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”. The film follows Miles Morales as he travels to other universes to meet other versions of Spider-Man, including Gwen Stacy, Peter B. Parker, and Miguel O’Hara. Along the way, he must learn to embrace his own unique identity and use his powers to save the multiverse.
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, it features a voice cast that includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Oscar Isaac, Issa Rae, and Jorma Taccone.
The animation, you’ll be unsurprised to hear, is simply breathtaking. Spider-Man’s animated adventures feature a unique visual style that is both vibrant and stylish. The action sequences are exciting and well-choreographed, and like its predecessor, the film is full of humor and heart.
Most importantly, though, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has an engaging and genuinely moving story; a powerful meditation on identity, belonging, and the importance of hope.
If you are a fan of Spider-Man, then it’s a no-brainer. Go and see it! But if you’re simply looking for a great film – animated or otherwise, then I highly recommend Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
