TL:DR – Not so much as a spark
The Flash is a mess. It’s a big, loud, CGI-fest that’s full of potential but ultimately fails to deliver.
The latest DC film stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, a speedster who can travel through time and space. Barry uses his powers to travel back in time and save his mother from being murdered. However, his actions have unintended consequences, and he creates a new timeline in which the Justice League never existed.
The film is directed by Andy Muschietti, who previously directed It and It Chapter Two. Muschietti does a good job of creating some visually stunning sequences, but he struggles to keep the film’s narrative on track. The film is also hampered by a number of poor performances, particularly from Miller, who is woefully miscast as Barry Allen.
Apparently the most common Google about The Flash is “What should I watch before The Flash 2023?” Allow us to help: watch just about anything instead of The Flash 2023. The TV series is a much better use of your time.
The Flash is a disappointing film that could have been so much more. It’s a shame that such a promising premise was squandered by such a weak execution.
