Babylon 5 is back in 2023 with a brand new animated movie, written by J Michael Straczynski himself, directed by Matt Peters and starring a dazzling number of original cast members.

The trailer hasn’t officially dropped but Amazon’s product page for the release features animation from the film and can be seen here. (NB. The trailer runs fine on Chrome but my Firefox won’t play it, YMMV)

Babylon 5: The Road Home sees president John Sheridan lost in time. As he traverses the galaxy trying to get home, he visits planets, alternate timelines and old friends. Along the way, he uncovers the history of the universe and, it is teased, why we’re all here in the first place.

Babylon 5: The Road Home stars Bruce Boxleitner as John Sheridan, Bill Mumy as Lennier, Patricia Tallman as Lyta Alexander, Claudia Christian as Susan Ivanova, Tracey Scoggins as Elizabeth Lochley and Peter Jurasik as Londo Mollari.

A number of cast favourites from the original Babylon 5 are sadly no longer with us but will be represented in the new animated film, nonetheless. Phil LaMarr plays Dr Richard Franklin, Andrew Morgado is G’Kar, Rebecca Riedy is Delenn and Anthony Hansen is Michael Garibaldi.

The official trailer is due to arrive in non embedded form imminently and Babylon 5: The Road Home will release on 15 August 2023 on streaming, DVD and Blu Ray.
